THE DEATH SHOW
Death! A bit grim, isn’t it. Morbid, macabre and even unmentionable, but does it have to be that way?
Drawn together by a shared fear of death, Lucy Nicholls and Antonia Beck present The Death Show. A funny, surreal, reflective and unashamedly honest show about death.
Climb aboard the coffin and embark on a journey of discovery, as we journey into the unknown on a quest to understand society’s fear of death and why we struggle to accept our own mortality. This entertaining, playful and poignant show is as much about contemplating death as it is about reflecting on the importance of living life to the full.
Celebrate your own mortality, laugh, cry, stick two fingers up at the grim reaper and discover why talking about death is ultimately life-affirming.
Written by Antonia Beck, Lucy Nicholls and Bernadette Russell and performed by Antonia Beck and Lucy Nicholls. Supported by the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Arena Theatre Wolverhampton with additional support from BrumYODO, Shoot Festival, Midlands Arts Centre and funding from Arts Council England & the Sir Barry Jackson Trust.
“A Breakfast Club fist pump in the face of fear…delivered through a beautifully balanced story of hope & humour” – Birmingham Review
“The Death Show takes an important subject [...] and shakes it up [...] fun and life-affirming.” – Weekend Notes
