SURPRISE! is an interactive clown show that looks at how we can confront anxiety, overcome fear and find freedom through laughter!
The show is an authentic and accessible performance that informs and invites us all to a fun, honest and open conversation about managing our mental health in the everyday. By creating a safe space, SURPRISE! is a rare show using clowning and Le Jeu (‘the Game’ a performance concept by renowned master clown and professor of theatre Philippe Gaulier), crafted to be particularly accessible to those affected by Mental ill-Health, promoting positive and supportive dialogue about therapy and self-care.
SURPRISE! premiered throughout 2017 as a work-in-progress performance at Theatre in the Mill, Camden People’s Theatre and Physical Fest, Liverpool. In 2018, it sold-out two further work-in-progress shows at VAULT Festival and received a number of 4 & 5 star reviews.
Supported by Arts Council England, Bathway Theatre at Greenwich University, #ItAffectsMe and Liverpool Mental Health Consortium.
A full length production is currently in development for 2020. With support from Stanley Halls, London & Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse

Lauren Silver is an actor, clown, theatre-maker, musician and workshop facilitator. She makes work that is charming, joyful and that gets to the heart of who we are as people. Her work has played regional and international venues that include London’s Vaudeville Theatre, Sydney Opera House, Liverpool Everyman, Leicester Square Theatre, Theatre by the Lake and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
Lauren is also the founder of PlaySeries: Creative Workshops that aim to bring play into your everyday and she facilitates these workshops for Freelancers and Corporate Companies. Lauren is incredibly passionate about campaigning for more positive conversations about Mental Wellbeing.
